This is the personal tale of Ali Zaidi, artistic director of British independent theatre company motiroti. Indian by birth, Pakistani by immigration and British by chance, this interactive one-man show chronicles the milestones in his life and the key people that influenced his development across continents and in-between social and cultural divides. The performance combines projected media and a tasting menu created with local chef and food consultant Gabriel Cher. In English, Italian and Urdu with English subtitles.

Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios Singapore presents a large scale scare-fest that will be held at the transformed theme park. There will be a haunted house with an Asian twist alongside special scare zones and hundreds of trained actors bringing Halloween characters to life. Selected rides and attractions, including Revenge of the Mummy and Battlestar Galactica will be in operation. This event promises to be intense and is not recommended for children below the age of 13. No costumes or masks allowed.

Dinosaurs – Live!

Step into the world of dinosaurs at this interactive and educational exhibition which features close to 50 larger-than-life animatronic creatures. Learn about dinosaurs from different prehistoric periods and find out more about their anatomical characteristics, food patterns, habitats and evolution patterns. Documentaries will be screened and there are also activities such as dino-drawing and dino-riding.

Singapore, A Giant Poem

On Sept 3, more than 1,000 people gathered at the Empress Place River Promenade to pen the longest Giant Poem in Asia. Spanning a record 170m, Singapore, A Giant Poem consists of close to 150 poems written in more than 20 languages. Now a selection of these poems have been immortalised on The Arts House hoarding. The worldwide project, which started in Spain, has attracted thousands of participants, and collected as many poems written by various local communities. The poems will all contribute to a wider project, The World, A Giant Poem.

Huayi – Chinese Festival of the Arts

Tickets for next year’s Huayi festival highlights are now available. This 10th edition has the theme of courage – in particular, the courage that artists intrinsically possess to create art. Huayi takes the spirit of courage beyond its traditional interpretations to present its different faces as perceived in contemporary Chinese culture. Don’t miss Crosstalk Travellers, a hilarious tale of two globetrotters that is the latest collaboration between acclaimed playwright Stan Lai and top Taiwanese television producer Wang Weizhong. More programmes to be announced next month.
